Island Survivor

You get invited to the national sales conference in Colorado. You're psyched. Buy the ticket and you're on your way. Not so fast. A few technical difficulties and you're stranded on a not-so-deserted island. A massive tropical storm moves in. You'll need to create a structure to protect you from the elements if you want to live to see the dawn. You and your fellow passengers rally to divine functional and durable structures to withstand the fiercest forces of nature.

Fortunately for you, there's a professional guide on the same flight and he decides to hold class on the fine art of using a compass and reading a map to help better the situation. Oh, and someone else has that cool new gizmo, a G.P.S. unit. Maybe if you combine all these skills, you just might succeed. Divide up the group and get those people busy. Each team has a specific structure (a kitchen, a raft) to build. What's more, you'll have to go and find all the essential materials and tools.

There's the Big Group Picture, the Team Effort and the Individual Challenge. Everyone's got a part. Success is due to effective pre-planning, execution, and communication. Without these components, constructing a working village of out of limited resources is much harder than it needs to be. The name of the game here is to get everyone involved and to have some serious fun. Teamwork and a positive vibration is what you'll need to succeed. And of course, we'll spell out the particulars and the parameters to help facilitate the whole production.

Summertime courses are done on foot and involve an average of 2-3 miles of easy to moderate walking during the program. Wintertime courses are done on snowshoes and involve an average of 1-2.5 miles of walking. Not so coincidentally, Survivor is suitable for both non-active as well as very active persons. It all depends on the strategies that are formulated during the team planning stages.
