GPS Orienteering Quest
*gps, map and compass

Whether this event is played out in the backcountry, a local park or an urban setting, our take on the traditional scavenger hunt is an innovative team building activity that incorporates popular orienteering and navigational devices. Our Orienteering Quest is a fun, action-packed program, which reinforces essential skills such as cooperative decision-making, leadership, conflict mediation, problem solving and introduces basic orienteering. Although we have a few permanent courses set up, we are mobile and willing to design a new course for you anywhere you want. Finding all the items that we lay out is a bit easier than finding the proverbial needle in a haystack. We explain the concepts, the agenda and the structure. We give you the tools and teach you the skills. Teams get a chance to strategize and they're off on their quest.

Teams will be schooled in the basic skills of some simple and technological backcountry tools. Some team members will familiarize themselves with a hand-held tracking device called a Global Positioning System (G.P.S.) unit. Their counterparts will rediscover the lost art of using a map and compass to decipher this territorial challenge. It's up to the individual teams to make sure everyone is up to speed as far as usage of these materials and an understanding of the Big Picture. We set up a tally system and a schedule so the team who maximizes the points and minimizes the time emerges victorious. As always, CBST prides itself with providing all participants with the proper gear, professional staff and any extraneous support needed to succeed.

Whereas most folks are used to seeing and using compasses and maps, G.P.S. units aren't as common. A G.P.S. unit is a hand-held tool that has been used for many years by aviators and nautical folks alike. Recently these devices have been made available to the general public and have become popular for use in driving, hunting, backpacking and more. These tracking devices are accurate up to six feet of a mark on a map by sending and receiving signals from twelve satellites in orbit. Synchronizing these distinct tools with some intuition, brainstorming and competitive zest gives the team a great range of strategies to complete their objectives.

The Orienteering Quest requires 3 hours minimum.
